i have 1986 mercury black max xr2 150 on my fishing boat. when the motor is cold i have fire on 1,2, but no fire on 3,4,5,6.take a blow dryer and warm motor up some and u will get fire on 3,4,5,6 and motor will start,and as long as u keep the motor warm by starting every so often the motor will start and run great.if u let motor get cold and no fire on 3,4,5,6 and motor will not start.89 mercury xr2 black max tilt and trim - 07/13/14 07:18 PM. Either will only allow the fuel pump to flow a limited amount of fuel, no where near enough to make much power. Seloc says for a 2.4 200 it will increase timing 6 degrees @5600 rpm and retard timing by 6 when rpm falls below 5400... For XR4's it will increase 6 degrees to max timing by 5000 rpm but once the motor hits 5700 rpm it will retard the timing 4 degrees to maintain 5700 rpm.Jun 19, 2019 · Help plz. 87 Mercury 150 xr2 Black Max. Re: Replacing steering cables on Mercury XR2 Black Max 150 (56k beware) That's a teleflex dual rack system. The cables are no longer available. Replace system would be a teleflex NFB dual rack. They are all strong 150's. XR2 and XR4 came with 4 1/4 in lowers. XR6 came with either 4 1/4 or 4 3/4 in lower.
